Lucky Knot Maker | Easy Chinese Knot Tool

• The「Pan Long Knot」symbolizes “endless life, lasting happiness, and peace” — a classic emblem of traditional Chinese lucky culture.
• This is a tool to help you weave a Pan Long Knot (a type of Chinese knot). I made it because I loved doing knot crafts as a kid. In middle school, our handicraft class started a knotting unit — and I ended up doing the homework for half the class. I became a hero. Those are really fond memories.

• I once designed a 3D printed Chinese knot that used hinges to mimic the soft texture of the real one.

  Now, I wanted to go a step further — create a tool that makes the weaving process itself easy and enjoyable for everyone.

• The model is a base plate printed with the weaving pattern, featuring guide rails and clips to hold the cord securely. (Traditional methods use pins on foam — messy, a bit risky, and sometimes damage the cord.) I also included a picking tool that stores in a slot on the plate — it helps lift the cord when you need to pass under it. (Inspired by the NDS stylus 😄)

• For detailed steps, please read the Assembly guide. Once you understand the method, you can complete the knot just by following the hints on the model.
• You’ll need a cord of at least 2.4m long, about 2mm in diameter — red works best.
• Printing tip: 

1. The base plate fits on the A1 mini, but you need to disable the prime tower.
2. Once all parts are printed, secure them with glue.
3. Multi-color printing makes the weaving guide lines on the base plate more visible. If you don't have AMS, printing in a single color works just fine — the tool remains fully functional. 

• About the contest: I didn’t create this model specifically for it, but after finishing, I realized it fits the theme quite well: it carries a lucky meaning, offers a fun and accessible hands‑on process, and is perfectly safe. I hope it brings a bit of good luck and joy to the brave children.
