Why are supports absolutely required?
All three figures MUST be printed with supports – the balloon aesthetic with its round, protruding elements creates numerous critical overhangs. For the duck, beak and feet are critical, for the monkey it is the arms, ears, and upright tail, for the axolotl the delicate gill tufts and four little legs are especially demanding. Use Tree Supports with 0.2 mm interface distance and 10-12% density – stable enough but easy to remove. For the axolotl (45mm), proceed especially carefully since the gills are very delicate – a fine tweezer is recommended for removal!
Which figure is the most difficult to print?
The axolotl is despite its small size of only 45mm the most demanding figure – the delicate gill tufts on the head are extremely fine and need very precisely placed Tree Supports with minimal contact surface. Recommendation: Reduce layer height to 0.12 mm for the axolotl print, slow print speed to 40-50 mm/s and raise nozzle temperature +5°C for better layer adhesion. The result is then absolutely impressive for a 45mm model!
