Description

Bring a piece of the garage into your office! This lamp is a functional 3D-printed model of a classic automotive piston and connecting rod. It’s designed to be a centerpiece for any car enthusiast, mechanical engineer, or maker who loves industrial decor.

The design is optimized for Silk PLA to give it that high-end metallic shine without the need for painting. It features a hollow piston head to house a light source and a sturdy base for stability.

 

 

 

⚠️ Honesty Corner: Known Issues & Tips

This is a V1.0 release, and while it looks great, there are a few notes regarding the print quality:

  • The Scarf Seams: I used the new "Scarf Seams" feature to hide the layer starts. It’s not perfect yet – you might see some small surface dips or lines depending on your retraction settings. If you want a "safe" print, stick to standard seams.
  • Screw Details: The small indentations for the screws can be a bit tricky. If your cooling isn't dialed in, they might look slightly messy. I recommend slowing down the "Outer Wall" speed for these parts.
  • Curved Surfaces: On the high-gloss Silk filament, the "stepper" effect on curves is more visible. Using a lower layer height (0.12mm or 0.16mm) for the top of the piston is highly recommended.

  • Light Socket: Designed for a standard small LED socket (e.g., E14 or a specialized 3D-printing lamp kit).
