PLA works for low-heat applications (indoor gardening, airbrushing) but is not recommended for hot exhaust streams from resin printers or soldering stations.

You'll Also Need

  • Activated carbon granulate (RC48 grade or better, roughly 4x8 mesh)
  • Silicone sealant (optional, for airtight joints)
  • Fine mesh fabric (optional, pre-filter for particulates)
  • Aluminum or PVC duct tape

Why This Design

Most off-the-shelf carbon filters are either overpriced grow-tent units or disposable cartridges that can't be refilled. This housing is designed to be rebuilt, refilled, and reused — swap the carbon when it saturates instead of tossing the whole filter. The modular end caps let you adapt the same body to different duct sizes or fan brands.

Important Notes

This is a DIY project. You are responsible for the safe installation and operation of your ventilation setup. Carbon filtration reduces VOCs and odors but does not replace proper room ventilation for hazardous processes. Always follow the safety guidelines of your tools and materials (resin, solder, solvents, etc.).
