*UPDATE* A user-requested print profile was added with a different lower lip and clump of grass in case you'd rather the cow is eating grass instead of chewing his cud (like the chewing pig model).
This fun, interactive mechanical toy brings a classic barnyard animal to life using the Bambu Lab Wind-Up Walker hardware.
Designed as a companion piece to my Wind-Up Tractor, this cartoon cow has a hilarious sense of scale—he is absolutely massive next to the farmer! To bring him to life, simply crank his tail to wind up the internal mechanism. As it unwinds, the tail spins around while the cow happily munches and chews his cud.
Key Features
Clever Mechanics: Repurposes a single Bambu Lab Wind-Up Walker to power two distinct movements: a spinning tail and a chewing jaw!
A1 Mini Friendly: Designed to fit perfectly on smaller build plates like the Bambu Lab A1 Mini.
No AMS Required: Every piece is modeled separately. Print the batches in your favorite filaments and assemble them afterward.
Snap-Fit Assembly: Parts are designed to press-fit together cleanly for a seamless look.
Important Safety Warning
While this model features snap-fit tolerances, it is highly recommended to use super glue on all parts if this will be given to a child. Small details like the horns, eyes, hooves, and tail components can pose a choking hazard if they work loose during play. Please glue everything securely!
Hardware Required
1 Bambu Lab Wind-Up Walker mechanism
Printing & Assembly Notes (see photos)
Prepare the Wind-Up Walker: Remove the little stabilizers from the walker feet. You can use trimmers or just read them off with your fingers.
Print the Parts: Print all pieces in your desired colors. The body, head, snout, jaw, legs, hooves, and horns are all separated.
Install the Wind-Up Mechanism: Insert the foot into the slot in the front of the body (the winding stem will fit into the hole above it), and then install the 'walker foot lock' into the foot and the front of the body. Assemble the head (the snout, the eyes and horns) and fit it onto the wind-up mechanism and press it into place until it clicks. Slide the lower lip onto the other wind-up walker foot.
Attach the Action Parts: Connect the tail assembly to the walker's winding stem.
Build the Cow: Snap the udder, legs and hooves into place. (Remember your super glue for permanence and safety!)
