Description

Boeing 737 FMS/CDU Replica - Flight Sim Control Panel

Bring your flight simulator to the next level!

This is a high-fidelity, 3D-printable replica of the Boeing 737 Flight Management System (FMS), also known as the CDU (Control Display Unit). This model is designed not just as a static prop, but as a functional enclosure for home cockpit builders.

I will add it to my personal flight Cockpit. You can see here what I am building:

✈️ Features & Mechanical Design:

  • Tactile Feedback: The system uses a dedicated PCB mounted behind the front panel.
  • Switch Compatibility: Designed specifically for 6 x 6 x 5 mm 4-pin DIP PCB microswitches (68 units required).
  • Actuation System: Button presses are registered via plastic rods inserted into the holes behind each key, ensuring a smooth and reliable travel.
  • LCD Integration: The central frame is sized to house a standard liquid crystal display for a fully functional digital interface.
  • Ready-to-Print Colors: The 3D files are already organized by color: Grey chassis, Black buttons, and White lettering (perfect for AMS or multi-material printing).

🛠️ Assembly Instructions:

  1. Electronics: Solder the 68 microswitches onto your custom PCB.
  2. Mounting: Insert the plastic rods into the back of the buttons. Align the PCB with the switches and secure it to the backplate using screws or adhesive.
  3. Wiring: There is dedicated clearance on the sides of the PCB to allow easy cable management. Route your wires freely to your Arduino or interface board.
  4. Software: Compatible with Mobiflight (this is the one I use), AirSim, or custom Arduino scripts for MSFS / X-Plane.

🖨️ Recommended Print Settings:

  • Layer Height: 0.16mm (0.12mm for buttons/text clarity).
  • Infill: 15-20% Gyroid.
  • Supports: not required
