Customizable Cable/Hose/Tube Marker Clip (3-45mm)

This is a brand new parametric version of my cable clip. This time not only for network cables but perfect for organizing office desks, server racks, workshops, or garden equipment. Because it is parametric, you can generate a specific size for almost any cylindrical object.

Note: There is also a customizable version for flat cables as well as a customizable cable organizer clip.

It's been remade from scratch to support parametric resizing and printing without support at all sizes.

Just click on the customize button on MakerWorld or in your app.

• It allows you to choose any diameter between 3mm and 45mm to fit your specific needs.
• It also features a separate label plate which slides into the clip and snaps into place. The fit is secure to ensure it does not fall off once seated.
  • This is of course also parametric, so you can specify both length and width*.
  • You can add custom text using the text tool in your slicer. Follow instructions below for Bambu Studio (v2.5.0.66)

* The length and width of the label will always be adjusted upwards to fit the cable holder if you specify a value which is too small.

Important notes for parametric design! Make sure to use the same measurements for both clip and label for them to fit correctly.   For printing the cable clips I recommend setting brim to “Outer brim only”, brim-width to 3mm and brim-object gap to 0.2mm.

Size Guide (Use these measurements as a starting point for your prints)

• 3mm to 5mm: Standard or braided USB cables and PTFE tubes, HDMI, and DisplayPort cables.
• 5mm to 7mm: Network cables, computer power cords and other thick appliance cables.
• 7mm and up : Garden hoses and electrical installation cables (use for electrical at your own risk).

The easiest solution is to measure your cable/hose/tube with calipers.

Guide to adding text

The last plate has a label with text added already of you want to see the end result.

Select the label you want to add text to.
You can change to Objects if you want to find it more easily.
Rotate so you look at the label from below. (Make sure you build plate is active, then click and hold anywhere outside of objects and move your mouse) Click on the “T” in the top bar to enter text mode. You may need to rotate the text 90 degrees using the rotation handle.
Select the font color you want by pressing the corresponding number.  You can also click on the colored square in the object list (three separate clicks) to bring up the list of currently loaded colors. Or right click → Change Filament → Color
Enter the text you want. Pick a font that suites your purposes. I recommend a clean font without serifs (feet) for best legibility. You may need to adjust the size to fit your text. (Also see #5) Set the thickness to 0.2 and set embedded depth to the same. If you have a long text you can set Text Gap to a negative number (e.g. -0.1) to make the letters print closer to each other. Set operation to Modifier You might need to click and drag the yellow square to center your text better.
If you want to change the text later on, find and select it in the object list before pressing the “T” tool.
