Pre-Hispanic Zapotec Ceramic Dog
Print Profile(1)

Description
Inspired by the iconic Zapotec ceramic funerary urns found in Oaxaca, Mexico, this model reimagines one of the most fascinating and mysterious artifacts of pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican culture. The Zapotec civilization used these dog-shaped urns as funerary offerings and incense braziers. The dog, believed to be an ancestor of the Xoloitzcuintle, held deep spiritual significance, serving as a guide for souls in their journey to the underworld. This model captures the distinctive layered line texture of the original ceramic piece, reinterpreted as a 3D-printable object that honors both the craft and the symbolism of the original.
