Description
Realistic Bonsai Pine - Christmas Edition (FDM Optimized)
Transform your 3D printer into a festive workshop with this high-detail, hybrid DIY Bonsai Pine.
This project is a unique blend of 3D printing and simple crafting, resulting in a stunning, lifelike Christmas decoration that fits perfectly on any desk or mantel. While the core structure is designed for FDM printing, the final look is achieved by integrating affordable, easy-to-find craft components for maximum realism.
Project Overview
The final model stands as a beautiful, glowing miniature tree that captures the warm essence of the holiday season. By printing the specialized trunk and base, you create a sturdy foundation for a high-fidelity artificial branch and integrated lighting.
What You Will Need (Required Accessories):
To achieve the exact look shown in the images, you will need the following non-printed parts:
- Artificial Pine Branch: A 34cm Cypress-style artificial pine branch. The 3D printed trunk is designed to house and support this specific size for a balanced aesthetic.
- Warm Fairy Lights: A strand of copper wire LED fairy lights. These are essential for creating that cozy, "Noel" evening glow.
- Assembly Tools: A standard 20W hot glue gun and glue sticks are required to securely bond the branch and lights to the 3D printed base.
Print Settings & Tips (FDM):
- Material: PETGis highly recommended (especially in Brown or Wood-filled PLA for the trunk, and Matte Black or Stone-texture for the pot).
- Layer Height: 0.2mm - 0.28mm for a good balance between detail and print time.
- Supports: The trunk is designed with 3D printing constraints in mind, but minimal tree supports may be needed for the overhangs.
- Infill: 15% Gyroid for structural stability.
Assembly Instructions:
- Print the trunk and base components using your preferred FDM settings.
- Insert the 34cm artificial branch into the designated slot in the printed trunk.
- Secure the branch and wrap the warm fairy lights around the needles using the hot glue gun for a permanent, professional finish.
