Description
Universal Parametric Planter for Semi-Hydro and Soil
This is a precision planter generator designed specifically for growing rare aroids and high-value tropicals. Rather than a one-size-fits-all pot, this tool allows you to generate a custom-fitted home for your plants based on your specific growing medium and reservoir size. It is especially useful for collectors managing rare species in IKEA cabinets or specialized grow spaces where every millimeter of shelf space and airflow counts.
Designed for Plant Health & Reliability
The generator features three independent drainage and aeration systems that can be toggled to suit your growing method:
- Floor Drainage: Standard base holes for traditional top-watering.
- Nursery-Style Side Notches: Precision vertical cutouts at the bottom edge. These break water tension and prevent the "perched water table" effect, ensuring the bottom of your aroid mix doesn't stay soggy.
- Large Aeration Slits: High-level vertical slits for maximum oxygen exposure to the root zone—essential for Anthurium and Monstera.
- Solid Cache Mode: Deselect all drainage options to create a perfectly sized decorative outer cache pot.
- Engineering Optimization: Regardless of the complex exterior texture, the interior remains a perfect smooth cylinder. This ensures a 100% watertight seal and prevents roots from getting "locked" into the exterior design during repotting.
The Reinforced Top Rim
By default, the generator includes an optional reinforced top rim.
- Why it’s useful: It provides a sturdy ledge for lifting heavy pots out of deep reservoirs and adds structural rigidity to taller planters.
- Why you might disable it: Personally, I prefer the aesthetic without the rim—it creates a much cleaner, more seamless look.
- How to turn it off: Simply deselect the "Add Top Rim" toggle in the Customizer to return to the sleek, "rimless" profile seen in the primary photos.
Premium Exterior Styles
From minimalist geometry to organic textures, choose from 15 different styles to match your collection's aesthetic:
- Architectural Gems: Vertical Prism, Origami Faceted, Hex & Octagon Low-Poly.
- Organic & Biophilic: Lotus Petals, Ocean Waves, Scalloped Flutes, and Horizontal Ripple.
- High-Tech Textures: Geometric Braiding, Woven Basket, and Diamond Lattice.
- Classic & Retro: Mid-Century Tapered, Twisted Flutes, Radial Sunburst, Ribbed, Twisted Polygon, and Classic Smooth.
Recommended Print Settings & Waterproofing
While I have optimized the script geometry and default wall thickness (2.5mm) for a watertight pot, 3D prints can sometimes have microscopic voids. To ensure there is absolutely no leaking in a long-term reservoir setup, I recommend the following:
Slicer Settings:
- Material: PETG is highly recommended for long-term water contact.
- Wall Loops: 4 to 5. (This is the most critical setting for strength).
- Bottom Layers: 5 to 6.
- Bottom Surface Pattern: Concentric.
- Wall Ordering: Inner/Outer.
The "Zero-Leak" Pro-Tip: For 100% peace of mind, I treat the interior of my 3D-printed cache pots with a quick internal spray of Flex Seal MAX (Clear). This creates an instant waterproof rubberized coating that fills any micro-gaps between layers, ensuring your shelves and cabinets stay bone-dry even with full-time water reservoirs.
The "System" Approach
This planter is the perfect companion to my Universal Parametric Net Pot Generator. By matching the dimensions of both, you can create a professional-grade self-watering system that makes flushing, nutrient changes, and root inspections effortless.
