Description

The 3D Catan Case by FrostyDK is fantastic but I really wanted one for the Seafarers Expansion. This is my really rough remix of the design using mostly TinkerCAD to edit components to accommodate the Seafarers pieces. There will be a lot of odd blemishes, geometry issues and a completely unoptimized print profile and so on so it is submitted as. Thank you FrostyDK for the original design!

FrostyDK has said he'll be doing a Seafarers version of his case which will likely be far superior than my amateur attempt so at that time I may remove this remix.

This case will hold the 3D Catan Seafarers Expansion by Dakanzla including all additional 5-6 player components.
This holds the expansion as a second case, it does not add onto the existing case by FrostyDK. If you want an all in one solution Domino recently uploaded a large case that will hold Seafarers + Cities & Knights all together in one set.

Slim Accessory Box
The box that Frosty used for the dice and robber now have room for two pirate ships, the number tokens for ‘Cloth for Catan’ including the additional 5-6 player tokens for that scenario that are included in the remix. It will hold the number tokens for Seafarers and the ‘Lost Tribe' pieces for that scenario.

Accessory Tray
Will hold the little canons for The Pirate Islands, both original and Dakanzla's stackable chits. There is room for ‘Cloth for Catan’ tokens which I've included. There is a tray for Tabletop Monthly's Wonders of Catan cards and storage space for the Wonder tokens.

Harbor Box
Now this is for the “Fog Islands” scenario and will hold the undiscovered land bases and tops.

Wonders of Catan Pieces
The Wonders of Catan Scenario has multiple pieces I've included, each Wonder has 4 stages and they can be placed on the board in the crossroad positions you cannot build on anyway for fun. The Great Wall has multiple towers and they can hold a city or settlement at the top so you can complete the wall without moving your settlements. I thought it was fun to have little pieces to build since this is one of my favorite scenarios. Mostly these are remixes themselves of the Cities & Knights pieces from Dankazla's 2.0 version of that expansion.

Important Note on Magnets:
I had this issue while printing FrostyDK's case so it may just be my own printer, but often the magnets do not easily fit into the holes. You may need to use a razor or file to get them large enough for the magnets to fit. Most of the time I used my solder iron to heat-press them in which negatively effects the magnets strength. Ultimately, it all worked out for me but this is probably the biggest design flaw in my remix is the inconsistently sized magnet holes. If you want to be sure the magnets will fit you can use a negative cylinder to widen the holes before printing and glue them in if they end up a little too big.

Other Notes:
The water hex portion of the case was doubled to hold the amount of water hexes needed for seafarers and extra. I created a hex spacer that uses the same magnets from the original project to space them out so the rock water hexes can fit into the smaller slots more efficiently. Two of the three water rock hexes need the spacers, only one of them is just slim enough to fit between regular ocean hexes. There are six extra slots on the land hex portion that you can add anything you want in my case I printed fun ocean hexes like the Kraken, ship wrecks etc. that can use the extra space.

The building cost cards were simplified to make printing easier and because I am really bad at the printing art face down on the bed thing, especially getting text to print legibly. Lastly there is an ‘Instruction Holder’ which is a really poorly designed 4-piece contraption that needs to be super glued together. This can hold your instructions and any small extras by fitting underneath the case with friction. You can use a little foam, velcro, tape etc. to create enough friction if it's not enough when you finish it.
