I put together this textured foot roller to help anyone dealing with tired arches, general foot fatigue, or the daily discomfort of plantar fasciitis. The spiked surface is specifically patterned to stimulate the bottom of your feet as you roll it back and forth. Applying your own body weight against the roller provides a deep tissue massage that naturally improves blood circulation and helps relax tight muscles and fascia.
The modular design allows you to print the end caps, center divider, and spiked rollers in separate colors to match your setup. You can easily customize the feel of the massage by choosing your filament carefully. Printing the main textured cylinders in TPU will give you a softer and more forgiving stretch, while using PLA or PETG provides a firm and aggressive massage. Assembly is straightforward and simply requires gluing the caps to the central core.
Note: Since 3D printing has microplastic get stuck in the skin if you apply pressure it's recommended to wear socks when using the foot roller.
Print Recommended Settings:
- Material: PETG for a firm massage or TPU for a softer feel
- Walls: Four perimeters minimum to handle foot pressure
- Infill: Twenty percent gyroid infill for maximum internal strength
- Supports: None needed when parts are printed vertically
- Build Plate Adhesion: Use a brim for the tall cylindrical pieces to prevent tipping
