Woods Tiles | Hex Terrain | Gundam Assemble
Print Profile(1)
Description
Hexagonal Woods Terrain Tiles designed for sci-fi wargaming, tabletop skirmishes, and tactical mecha combat. These highly detailed environmental markers are built to represent dense forests, wooded cover, or thick jungle canopies while providing a clear, thematic footprint across your hex-grid battlefield. Engineered with FDM and resin tabletop printing in mind, the models feature organic, top-down canopy textures, clustered foliage patterns, and sharp, readable hex edges that print cleanly while maintaining a classic, modular topographical aesthetic.
Serving as both vital game play element and immersive tabletop environments, these woods tiles embody defensive depth. The sturdy, elevated hexagonal design is built to sit perfectly alongside your existing terrain mat or modular hex board, allowing mechs and units to easily identify movement penalties, calculate defensive cover bonuses, or seek concealment. The intricate canopy variations and dense brush detailing make them an essential accessory for mapping out forested battlefields in any sci-fi mecha skirmish.
Dimensions & Scale
- Diameter (Width): approx. 33mm (flat-to-flat) / 38mm (point-to-point)
- Height (Thickness): approx. 10mm to 12mm (elevated above standard flat tiles to represent canopy height)
- Scale: Tabletop Mecha Scale (6mm/8mm and 1/144th scale compatible)
FDM Printing Recommendations
- Optimization: Designed for highly reliable, effortless FDM printing. Due to the solid, flat-bottomed geometry, this model prints perfectly flat directly on the build plate. The top-down organic detail relies entirely on clean layer stacking without the need for complex orientations.
- Layer Height: Recommended 0.08mm (Extra Fine) to 0.12mm (Fine). Because the visual impact relies on the curved top surfaces of the trees, pushing your printer to a lower layer height ensures the domed foliage and canopy clusters resolve cleanly without heavy stepping or over-extrusion blurring the shapes.
- Supports: No supports required. This model is designed to print completely flat on the build plate with zero overhangs.
- Nozzle: While easily printable with a standard 0.4mm nozzle, switching to a 0.2mm nozzle is highly recommended to dramatically improve the sharpness of the micro-details, specifically the texture of the leaves and the precise outer hex edges.
- Assembly: Print-in-place as a single solid piece. They are ready for the tabletop straight off the build plate. Printing them in matte olive, forest green, or brown filaments is highly recommended for easily identifying wooded terrain and cover during a match!
Please Note: While all showcase photos are of the genuine physical prints, the paint applications shown are AI-generated visualizations. This is done to highlight the miniature's details and showcase what you can achieve with a finished model.
