Description

Hello Maker Community,

Today I would like to share one of my first projects with you. It is a roller shutter designed for an IKEA Kallax shelf.

The assembly is very simple and does not require any glue. Only a rubber mallet is needed, mainly to make assembly easier.

The system is mounted directly to the Kallax unit using 4 × 25 mm Spax screws.
The components include sufficient mounting holes to install multiple roller shutters side by side. I recommend using two screws per mounted component.

All components are mirrored except for the roller shutter end profile.

I printed the roller shutter using both PLA and PETG; both materials work flawlessly.

The shutter moves smoothly and does not jam.

One limitation is that Kallax shelves are not manufactured with tight dimensional tolerances.
As a result, the front guide rails may occasionally have 1–2 mm of play.

IMPORTANT!!! The length of the strips with the 5 holes must be checked and, if necessary, adjusted in the studio.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or constructive input.

Hello, Unfortunately, one file is missing from the STEP files. Specifically, the one for the middle louvers. Could you still provide it? That would be really great of you. Super work and thank you very much for sharing your work

Printing from the phone on a1 is done. Supports had to be removed by hand with the Dremel so that the individual parts could be joined. However, parts need to be glued as they otherwise won't hold

Hello, I find the issue with the supports very strange. In the latest version, I specifically added a separating layer with PETG to avoid exactly that. I'm sorry that this caused you so much trouble. Unfortunately, I don't quite understand the issue with the tolerances yet. I have since printed five copies of the final version. Four of them work perfectly, and on one, the tolerance of the connectors was as you described.

Addendum. New attempt, different filament. No Dremel needed! This worked

No, actually not, I printed it multiple times with the file. However, you have to print the normal profile multiple times until you have 14 pairs.
