Description

I had a unique situation needing a 180 4-inch elbow for a duct feed from an old Nutone fan.  So, I started designing parts and decided to publish this complete collection in the hope it may help someone else.

Semi rigid and standard elbows available have too large a radius for turning 180.  Even a flex hose did not work plus it introduces all sorts of turbulence.  With this 180 you can connect it to a Nutone box up against one joist, and loop around next to it with a straight section without any trouble.

Each section is printed out of PETG to withstand the heat of an attic, and I coated each with water-based polyacrylic to seal the ductwork.

It works great and way better airflow than what I had with the flex hoses.  In this application, I used the Nutone housing as a simple “collector” and installed a new inline fan in the attic.  Note that on my Nutone unit, I had to apply a single wrap of electrical tape over the outlet which provides a better fit.

A small piece of flex hose is used as a “buffer” to suppress all noise from the motor, so it does not translate back to the printed pieces.
