Description
In Japan, the Azure Dragon is one of the four protective spirits of cities.
According to legend, it watches over the city of Kyoto, in the east.
In Kyoto, temples are dedicated to these guardian spirits. The Azure Dragon appears in Kiyomizu Temple, in eastern Kyoto. In front of the temple, there is a statue of the dragon which, according to legend, drinks from the temple's waterfall at night.
