Description

After designing my well-received demonic nails, I decided to go a little bit further and design something cool not only for nails, but also for the whole fingers :D And today I’m leaving these medieval-style finger guards in your hands  (or event ON your hands ;))

If you enjoy the project, consider boosting (it's free!). It gives me the possibility to create another models way faster - thank you!!  (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Design idea

To be totally honest, I just wanted to have the nails or fingers accesories that would complete my fantasty/medieval-style cosplay, but I couldn't find anything that would fit the style, be pretty and - at the same time - wearable for more than 15 minutes. So I tried my best to create something like this. I hope you will find this design useful in many other costumes :) I would love to see photos of them!

Versions

The design comes in two versions:

  • one has 2 articulated joints - it's made for index, middle, ring and pinky fingers
  • and the other has only 1 joint - for the thumb

Size

Of course you may need to resize this design to fit your different fingers. As I was told last time - I have rather small hands and the original size fits my index finger and my thumb. If you want to print more of them, I suggest you first print only one - and then adjust the size for your next prints.

The design of the pieces that hold the guards in place (the ring parts) is not joined together in the back to make this piece more flexible for various types of hands.

Printing

You may not love how I placed the pieces for printing - but please believe me that printing them laying on sides or upside down - while using less supports - leaves the design really unclean. I tried many times and hated each one of them. In the final version I left the armor facing up and used the slim tree supports for critical regions only - and I think it works pretty well for these pieces.

Please note: although the supports generally come off the model easily, pay attention when removing the ring part - I tried to make it durable, but it’s still the most delicate part of the print.

Filaments that worked well for me:

  • Bambu PLA Matte
  • Spectrum PLA

Printer tested on: Bambu Lab P1S

Hotend: 0.4 mm Stainless Steel

Additional tools: not needed

A1 MINI compatible: yes

When done printing please share your opinion and photo, I'd love to know how you liked the model :) Also, if you like 3d printed jigsaws, fidgets and usefull fantasy accesories, take a look at my other projects - I'm sure you'll find something interesting there :)
