M.2 SSD Case, MagSafe, Cooling Fan & accessories

This is a modular enclosure system for M.2 SSDs, designed to turn a simple M.2 drive and a USB / USB‑C adapter board into a compact, customizable portable SSD.

The core of the system is a central frame that holds the adapter board and the SSD, with standardized mounting points on both sides. You can close it with simple covers or add different accessories such as a MagSafe‑compatible ring, a cooling fan cover, or frames with slots for lanyards, carabiners and belt clips, depending on which parts you choose to use.

Throughout the project you will see two labels: “board side” and “SSD side”.

• The board side is the side where the adapter PCB with the USB connector sits.
• The SSD side is the opposite side, where the M.2 module rests.

Every accessory model (covers, fan covers, clips, etc.) is provided in both orientations, so you can choose whether to mount it on the board side or on the SSD side, and even mix different accessories on the two faces of the same frame. The only exception is the MagSafe accessory, which is designed to work on the board side only, to keep the magnetic ring aligned with the connector and flat against your phone or other MagSafe‑compatible surface.

The central frame itself is also available in several variants:

• a “standard” frame,
• a frame with a small slot for attaching a wrist strap or lanyard,
• and a frame with a larger slot designed to hold a carabiner.

By combining different central frames with the various board side / SSD side accessories, you can build exactly the layout you prefer for how you carry and use your portable SSD.
