Hey everyone!

This new project was heavily inspired by the popular "Dragon Reading" model, but I wanted to take the concept a step further and turn it into something fully functional for your tabletop game nights.

The Design

I’ve designed this cute dragon sleeping peacefully atop a stack of ancient books. But here is the secret: the top "book cover" is actually a removable lid! I designed it to be dual-purpose, allowing you to:

  • Safely store your favorite set of D&D dice inside.
  • Use the base as a rolling tray while you play.

The Finish

I printed mine in Black PLA filament, then dry-brushed it with golden Rub 'n Buff. It gives the piece a fantastic, heavyweight feel and makes it feel like a classic fantasy decoration.

🖨️ Print Settings & Specifications

  • Dimensions: 5 x 4 x 4 inches (14 x 11 x 11 cm)
  • Filament Usage: ~158 grams of filament

As always, tag me in your post so I can share it with the community! Let me know what you think of this design in the comments below.

Happy printing!

I took your advice and went with a matte PLA. I've only owned a 3D printer for 2 weeks and this is the first time I've ever used Rub n Buff, so it's not perfect, but what an amazing design, thank you! I will absolutely be joining your Patreon

Thaaaank you, you seriously made my day :D And thank you for trusting my design.. I can’t wait to see you on board! Also, the Rub n Buff literally changed my life hahaha.. A small tip: use less paint than you think you need. Try smudging the brush on a cloth or kitchen napkin first, then use whatever is left on the brush to lightly paint the model. That’s usually what gives the best effect :)

Did you use a matte black, or normal?

Honestly I tried Black PETG, and Matte PLA, both locked good, but I prefer the black matte if you want to dry brush it

I'm guessing your cheaper Patreon price has all been used up now, as it will cost £16 a month for me?
