Customizable rhythm claves [generator]

Start making your own music. This generator allows you to create modern, perfectly balanced rhythm claves (percussion sticks). Instead of basic wooden dowels, you can now print them in various modern shapes that fit comfortably in your hands. The built-in flat spot ensures you can print them horizontally without supports, which is crucial for strength and creating that sharp, cutting “tock” sound when struck together.

🧠 Behind the Design (For Makers & Moderators) 

This is a fully parametric OpenSCAD tool, not a simple primitive shape extrusion. The algorithm calculates dynamic tapers and polygonal structural profiles (hexagon, rounded square), and utilizes precise mathematical boolean subtractions to generate an optimal anti-roll flat spot across the Z-axis. This ensures perfect horizontal bed adhesion without supports, guaranteeing maximum layer adhesion along the impact axis for acoustic resonance.

⚙️ What can you customize?

• Four styles: Choose between classic round, rounded square, hexagon (great for grip) or a traditional tapered look.
• Dimensions: Scale the length and thickness to fit your hands or your printer bed.
• Flat spot control: Adjust how much of the bottom is cut off. This keeps the clave perfectly stable on your build plate.

🖨️ Print settings

This print relies on strength, so follow these guidelines for the best sound and durability.

• Orientation: Always print them horizontally lying flat on the bed. If you print them vertically, they will easily snap along the layer lines when you hit them.
• Material: PLA, PETG or ASA/ABS. PETG is highly recommended because it absorbs impact shock better than PLA.
• Infill: 100% solid. You need mass to create a loud, resonant sound. Hollow claves sound like cheap plastic toys.
• Walls: 4 to 6 walls for extreme impact resistance.
• Support: 100% support-free thanks to the generated flat spot.
