🌀 Reusable 3-Piece Spool for Bambu Lab (Easy Swap System)

Tired of having to finish a spool before being able to use the core on another? This design is intended for makers who need versatility, space saving, and order in their workshop.

This is a 3-piece spool (central core + 2 caps) fully compatible with the Bambu Lab ecosystem, but with a key improvement: you can secure your filament at any time to remove it partially used without it turning into a bird's nest.

• Smart Filament Management: Includes strategically placed side slots to tie and secure the filament before opening the spool.
• Secure Mechanical Lock: After the initial pressure tests, I added a mechanical lock to ensure the caps do not come loose during use, regardless of the filament's force.
• Two Cap Options Included:
  • Flat Cap: Minimalist, quick to print, and functional.
  • Cap with Reference Slot: Designed with the exact space to place the original Bambu Lab cardboard labels and always know what material you have loaded.

🛠️ Assembly and Usage Instructions

• Printing: Successfully tested with PLA and PETG.
• Supports: In the current version (V.3), only the central core requires supports. (Note: If you print the old V.2 files, all three pieces require them).
• Safety lock: Before opening the spool to change the filament, pass the end of the thread through the cap's slots and secure it. You can now unhook the core without fear!

🔄 Update History (Changelog)

• Update V.3 (Current): Core diameter corrected. I initially measured the outside of a packaged spool (64mm), but after reviewing open cardboard cores, I confirmed the standard is 60mm. V.3 adjusts perfectly to prevent filament slack and introduces the improved mechanical lock.
• Did you print the previous 64mm version? Don't throw it away! I have independently uploaded a 4mm adapter disc that makes up the difference so you don't have to print the entire core again. The caps remain 100% compatible.
