Modular Knob 6mm – Smart & Functional Design

This 6 mm knob was engineered with one goal in mind: maximum efficiency, minimum waste.
Designed and optimized specifically for PLA or TPU printing on a textured PEI build plate, the geometry ensures clean edges, consistent tolerances, and reliable mechanical performance.

⚠️ Build Plate Recommendation

This design is intended to be printed on a textured PEI build plate.

If you are using a smooth build plate, the outer shells may lose adhesion and slide during printing. In that case, it is recommended to flip the outer shells upside down before printing.

Printing them upside down on a smooth plate improves bed adhesion and prevents the wavy surface artifacts that may appear on the visible side of the knob.

Two-Part Smart Construction

The knob is printed in two separate parts:

• Outer shell – Recommended in black PLA to prevent visible dirt and to match most professional audio equipment.
• Inner core – Printed in the PLA color of your choice for clear visual identification.

Because the parts are printed separately, no AMS is required.

Optional TPU Outer Shell

The outer shell can also be printed in TPU.
A dedicated print profile has been created for this purpose.

The goal of this profile is to make the tactile contact softer and more pleasant, while also making assembly and disassembly easier.

Visual & Tactile Identification

The design is not only aesthetic — it is functional.

• The inner core color allows instant visual recognition. Choose different colors to identify controls at a glance.
• The outer shell texture enables tactile recognition.

If you have multiple potentiometers side by side, using different textures for each knob is highly recommended. This allows you to identify functions by touch alone — ideal for live setups, studio racks, or low-light environments.

Triple Fit Options

The inner core is available in three internal diameters:

• 6.0 mm – Tight press-fit (secure, firm installation)
• 6.1 mm – Balanced fit (secure with smoother installation)
• 6.2 mm – Easier fit

The diameter is engraved on the top surface for quick and reliable identification.

Secure, Permanent Assembly

Simply insert the inner core into the outer shell at a slight angle.
Once fully seated, the parts lock together and cannot be removed.
