Door Knob Hole Cover / Repair Plug — Clean Flush Finish (No Supports)

Got an old door knob hole, messy patch, or chipped paint around the lock area? This door knob hole cover is a clean, modern “plug + escutcheon” style cap designed to hide the opening and leave a neat finished look.

It’s a simple, functional print with a wide outer flange to cover imperfections, and a press-fit center insert that seats into the hole.

Dimensions

  • Outer diameter (flange): ~75.0 mm
  • Insert / press-fit diameter (main seating ring): ~53.2 mm (fits ~53–54 mm holes, depending on tolerance)
  • Total height (overall thickness): ~14.15 mm
    • Main body thickness: ~11.15 mm
    • Raised rim height: ~3.0 mm
  • Overall bounding size: ~75 × 75 × 14.15 mm

Features

  • Covers old/unused door knob holes for a cleaner finish
  • Wide flange hides paint chips, filler marks, and uneven edges
  • Press-fit insert helps keep it centered and snug
  • No supports needed (prints cleanly)
  • Great for quick repairs, rentals, renovations, or hardware swaps

Best Use Cases

  • Covering a door knob hole after changing locks/handles
  • Hiding a rough cutout while waiting for a permanent repair
  • Clean finishing touch for DIY door refurbishing
  • Temporary cover for workshop/utility doors

Print Tips

  • Orientation: print flat with the large face on the bed
  • Layer height: 0.20 mm
  • Walls: 3–4
  • Infill: 10–20%
  • Supports: None

Fit / Tolerance Tip

Door holes vary a lot. If the insert is too tight/loose:

  • Try Horizontal Expansion in your slicer (±0.1 to 0.3 mm), or
  • Scale XY only slightly (e.g., 99–101%)

20250506 Update:

Updated based on community feedback: added a pull-tab version for easier insertion and removal, especially useful for temporary remodel, HVAC, dry-fit, or repeated-use applications.
