Description
Miniature National Mall Arch — Arch de Trump (Protest Edition)
This is my small-scale concept of the proposed arch for the National Mall in Washington D.C., reduced to a 2.5" desk sculpture. I used MakerLab to help generate the broad shapes from reference images, then manually refined and cleaned up the model in Nomad Sculpt.
The arch was printed using a 0.4 mm nozzle. The winged statue is based on the Angel of Independence, Mexico, (Yes, it truly is the closest I've found to the official rendering from press conferences. You can't make this stuff up.) It was printed separately with a 0.2 mm to preseve fine detail. Slowing the print speed for the statue is essential to avoid failure. Please be very careful removing and attaching (I snapped off her torch by simply laying it down hard.) Because she is extremely delicate, I printed her separate and glued to the arch. The print profile uses a base raft to improve bed adhesion.
At this size, it is perfect for desk decor, shelf display, or as a small but pointed conversation starter. I used PLA+, which gives a beautiful, clean print, making the arch perfect for painting, graffiti, and banner additions (I will be making plenty of those for this model.) It can be displayed as a study, commentary, or silent form of resistance between you and your desk.
