SpinDot DICE – Modular D6 System

A new way to dice — under 30 minutes. A print‑in‑place D6 with a freely spinning core.

 

SpinDot DICE is a completely new take on the classic D6: a print‑in‑place dice with a freely spinning internal core, revealed through engineered slits. Two cages, three cores — four modular combinations. Plus a Fast‑Print Edition, a clean two‑color version with high‑contrast pips - and a premium version with full color changes (recommended for H2D/C makers).

 

How SpinDot DICE actually rolls

SpinDot DICE isn’t just a dice you drop — you roll it across the table. As the cage moves, the internal core begins to spin freely, creating a unique double‑roll effect: the outer dice rolls normally, while the inner core rotates independently.

 

This motion is what makes SpinDot DICE feel alive — a dice with its own internal momentum.

I have completely engineered every part from scratch to ensure a perfect print-in-place experience, signature SpinDot haptics, and ultra-fast print speeds. Included Variants

Cages:

  • Round Cage – Smooth Geometry A rounded, soft‑edged cage with openings on all six faces. Rolls better, feels more natural, and is ideal as the default version.
  • Square Cage – Angular Geometry A sharper, more geometric cage with the same six‑face openings. More technical, more defined edges, and visually striking.

Cores:

  • Round Core – smooth and balanced A clean, rounded internal sphere with soft geometry. Rolls smoothly and gives the most natural motion feel.
  • Twist Core – dynamic and expressive A twisted internal geometry that creates shifting reflections and more visible motion.

     

     

Features

  • Print‑in‑place spinning core: Breaks free as soon as you move the dice after printing.
  • Lightweight & Efficient: Only approx. 5.5g of filament per dice (single color).
  • Four modular combinations: Any cage works with any core.
  • No supports required: Fully optimized for clean bridging and smooth rotation.
  • Designed for silk filaments: silk filaments create deep reflections and make the motion highly visible.
  • Readable, high‑contrast pip design: Ideal for display and actual dice use.

     

Print Time

  • Standard Edition (0.16 mm): 30 - 40 minutes
  • Fast‑Print Edition (0.20 mm): <20 minutes
  • Dual Color (0.16 mm): 3:10h (H2D/C) - 5:45h (A1)
  • Premium Version (0.16 mm): 3:10h (H2D/C) - 8:40h (A1)
  • No supports, no assembly

     

Recommended Print Settings

  • Layer height: 0.16–0.20 mm
  • Material: Silk PLA, Galaxy PLA, or smooth PLA
  • No supports
  • Slow outer walls for best surface quality
  • For modular prints: print pips separately in white or another high‑contrast color
