Dremel Filament Spool Holder Prusa MK3-4S Printers
Print Profile(2)

Description
This spool holder was designed to allow you to use Dremel's proprietary filament spools on your Prusa spool holder. Dremel purposely made their printers with spools and spool holders that are smaller diameter than everyone else. I obtained some Dremel spools on clearance recently but didn't realize until I got home that I wouldn't be able to use them with my existing Prusa spool holder on my MK4S. I didn't feel like manually cutting the spool or rewinding onto another spool, so I quickly redesigned Carrier's spool holder to accommodate those smaller diameter spools.
This spool holder is compatible with all Dremel Digilab 750g (and under) spools and should fit their smaller diameter cardboard spools as well. The spool holder itself was designed to fit into the injection molded spool holder that came with the Prusa MK4/MK4S and was also confirmed to work on the spool holder that came with the Prusa MK3.
For printing, I recommend the following settings:
- PETG, ABS, or any filament that has carbon fiber
- 3 perimeter walls
- Cubic infill (minimum 25%)
- It is recommended that you print the split model version for the cleanest print. The “key” model should be printed with supports, while supports are optional for the 2 “end” files. Lay both end files horizontally along the flat edge, then once done printing, glue the end pieces to each other, then into the key piece.
- If you decide to print the full model version, for maximum strength, print it horizontally with supports. Yes, the bottom will be ugly, but it'll be much stronger than printing vertically. A test print that I made vertically very easily snapped where the horizontal test print did not.
Changelog:
- 11/15/2024: Initial Release (via Printables)
- 02/13/2025: Added additional split models to allow for easier printing
