Description

I designed this to help organize my zipper collection and bag making supplies. It's sized to perfectly hold a 9 yd roll of #5 zipper tape from wawak.com, but you can use it to organize cords, ribbon, thin rope, wire, you name it!

Check out my other bobbin designs, too:

There are two post versions, each with two tolerances. A tester base is included in the friction-fit spool profile for you to test which post will best fit your needs.

  • Slot Post: Includes a cutout in the middle of the post to insert the end of your zipper tape, binding, webbing, etc. so you don't have to use tape to secure the starting end.
  • Solid Post: Just a post, no cutout in the middle

** Multiple post sizes are included, or you can adjust the Z value in Bambu Studio to make the post (just about) any size! Do not shrink the post below 31mm, as the two base ends are 15mm each.

Tolerances:

  • Tight Post (.01 offset): The offset on these posts is just enough to put the spool together, but you're probably going to break the base before you are able to pull them apart again….
  • Less Tight Post (.05 offset): Loose enough that you can pull the post and base apart after assembly. Depending on your machine and filament, this tolerance might be “just right” or you might need to use a dab of glue to hold the spool together.

**I'm happy to make spools with other friction tolerances if desired.

Am I missing something? is this suppose to be a complete spool or just the center posts?

It’s a complete spool, just split into two profiles, the bases in one, the posts in the second!

I am not finding the Pinwheel Spool. Only the posts are showing in this particular design. I don't see the spool part at all. I see the posts in your other designs.

ok I see it now while I am in Studio. It doesn't show in Handy on my Ipad. Not sure why.
