Modular Headboard Shelf for IKEA MALM Bed

Description
Because Nightstands Are Overrated
Ever wished you had a little shelf right where you actually need it — without gluing or angering your furniture? This modular headboard shelf for the IKEA MALM bed is designed to clip onto a 40 mm thick headboard, giving you instant storage space for your everyday essentials.
The shelf mounts without glue using a strong connector-based system that holds everything firmly in place. Glue can be used optionally, but honestly — the connector fit is so tight that even I don’t use it. To keep your items (and your head) safe, the shelf features a 4 mm high protective lip that helps prevent objects from sliding or falling off — especially at 3 a.m., when gravity feels personal.
This shelf was originally designed for a friend who simply wanted a bit of extra bedside space. It turned out to be so practical that I decided to share it — maybe it’ll upgrade someone else’s setup too.
Mix, match, and build your own setup! Different sizes and modular variants let you create anything from a small bedside shelf to a full headboard storage system.

🛠️Before You Start Printing
Before printing, give the bed a quick clean 🧽 — good adhesion = better first layer and accurate geometry.
Use dry filament (wet filament loves to pop, string, and ruin dimensions).
When using my MakerWorld profiles, make sure the selected material matches what you’re actually printing. Different materials shrink and behave differently — the wrong profile can mean wrong dimensions.
Also, my STL files are designed and dimensioned for PLA. If you print them in PETG, you may need to slightly rescale the model to compensate for different shrinkage.
Clean bed. Dry filament. Correct material. Done 😄
