Tuneable EASY latches for Pred Grinfinity boxes and my Stackable boxes
The original latches for the Pred Grinfinity boxes are very very stiff. Some alternate versions are softer, but all of them have weaknesses.
These are different.
ONE
Redesigned latch points that align with the slots in the box. They can be printed from PLA or any other material and still retain their strength over time since they are not under compression when in use.
TWO
Eight different models for a range of strengths. From extra firm to extra soft - allowing flexibility to choose the right latch for your use. The strength also depends on the material and the color – In my testing I found different color filaments produce different strengths.
THREE
Two different latch styles, one with a traditional flush fit and the other with a protruding nub to easily grasp.
FOUR
Molded with the strength indicated on the side for easy identification after printing. Lower numbers are firmer though none are as stiff as the originals.
FIVE
Short version suitable for 4u boxes! Works on all sizes. Use standard version to latch a lid AND connect 2 boxes!
No supports needed.
Sample sets: a 3 plate profile for each latch type with plate 1 containing one of each strength and plates 2 & 3 with just evens and odds. The steps between firmness levels may be more fine than you need.
Short version profile includes 2 of each on plate 9. And 20 each on plates 1-8.
