Alton Towers, located in Staffordshire, England, is the largest and most famous theme park in the United Kingdom, renowned worldwide for its unique combination of historic ruins and groundbreaking roller coasters.

• The "Tree Line": The most important architectural feature is a local regulation: No attraction may be taller than the treetops. Therefore, engineers dig huge ravines and tunnels into the ground to create the necessary height differences (drops). This makes the rides extremely intense, as they often pass close to the rock (e.g., Nemesis Reborn or Oblivion).
• The Ruins: The park is built around a real, Neo-Gothic mansion (The Towers). These historic ruins often serve as a backdrop for rides (like the Hex dark ride) and give the park a mystical atmosphere.
• Record Holders: The park is known for its "Secret Weapon" (SW) projects. These include The Smiler (world record with 14 inversions/loops) and Oblivion (the world's first vertical dive coaster plunging into a steaming hole in the ground).
• Wicker Man: One of the newest main attractions is the first wooden roller coaster to integrate the element of Fire (a giant ram statue that appears to be burning).
