【Thin Mahjong】Ultra-portable outdoor Mahjong
Print Profile(6)

Description
Thin Mahjong is a special-sized mahjong designed specifically for outdoor mahjong players
Update Log: 2026.07.02
- Added a storage tile rack profile with a buckle version. A snap buckle was added to the box to prevent it from opening naturally and scattering the mahjong tiles. The crisp "click" sound of opening and closing the buckle is satisfying and stress-relieving
Update Log: 2026.02.03
- Optimized the storage tile rack model, making the hinges less prone to glue adhesion
Update Log: 2026.01.30
- Optimized hinge size and added rounded corners, leaving clearance to ensure a perfect fit when assembling the hinges with the rack
When camping or traveling outdoors, common board games usually only include poker or UNO. If you want to play mahjong outdoors, existing mahjong sets have a few common drawbacks for outdoor use:
① If you want portability, you can usually only choose small or even ultra-small mahjong tiles, typically finger-sized. The disadvantage is that the tiles are too small to have a good feel and make it impossible to shuffle them effectively
② If you want a good feel, you can only choose regular-sized mahjong tiles, but regular sizes are too large, usually requiring an 80×80cm table for use, and they are bulky and heavy, making them inconvenient to carry
To address the pain points mentioned above, I specifically designed and created this Thin Mahjong set. While retaining a large size, it significantly reduces the volume and weight of the mahjong tiles:
Single mahjong tile dimensions: 39×27×5mm; allowing for a complete tile-shuffling experience
Single mahjong tile weight: 3g, the entire set including the storage tile rack does not exceed 850g; it can be easily carried not only for park camping but also for travel or deep mountain hiking and camping
The drawback of Thin Mahjong is its inability to stand upright. Therefore, I specifically designed a dedicated storage tile rack for it. The storage box and tile rack are two-in-one; it acts as a storage box when carried and a mahjong tile rack when playing
The storage tile rack can perfectly hold 14 tiles, allowing them to be placed down or picked up for use, suitable for various outdoor scenarios
With only a small table, thanks to its thinness, mahjong tiles can be stacked 4 layers high, greatly reducing space requirements
The mahjong set includes 144 full tiles, including 8 flower tiles. Users can choose to print different tile counts based on their game play needs
To achieve a more delicate feel, the top surface of each mahjong tile is ironed
To ensure no color is missing from the font, an A wall plus 50% infill for the font color portion was used
Before printing, preview and check if the wipe tower overlaps or goes out of bounds
Regarding the printing and assembly of the storage tile rack:
When printing the storage tile rack, it will be printed in three parts: the upper tile rack, the lower tile rack, and the hinges. These three parts need to be glued together. Grooves are reserved on both the upper and lower tile racks where the hinges need to be glued. When applying glue, do not use too much to prevent overflow that could get on the moving parts of the hinges and hinder their function
You are free to choose your desired color for the mahjong tile backs and even the font colors, with the most traditional font colors used by default
Because the traditional font colors for the 'bamboo' and 'flower' tiles already account for 3 colors, adding the white of the characters and the back color results in 5 colors used
If you only have one AMS and want to print, there are two solutions:
① Open the file in Bambu Studio, set the bottom color and another color other than white to be the same color (do not set it to be the same as white). Add a pause after printing the bottom color. After the bottom color is printed, replace the filament for the bottom color with another color in that AMS slot
② Use one of the existing colors for the bottom color to achieve only 4 colors
③ Reduce one font color for the 'bamboo' tiles, leaving one color for the back
The mahjong tiles in Figures 9, 10, and the image at the end of the article are melamine mahjong tiles, not 3D printed. Melamine thin mahjong tiles are integrally die-cast from melamine resin using molds, which is the material of traditional machine-made mahjong tiles. The tile surface has a glazed texture, feeling smooth without a grainy feel. Thanks to the melamine material and thin shape, melamine thin mahjong tiles produce a crisper sound
The melamine thin mahjong tiles are products I personally sourced and produced with the factory. Friends who want to pursue a higher-quality feel when playing mahjong or do not want to spend too much time and material printing the 3D version of thin mahjong tiles can also search for "大迷惑星的店" on Xiaohongshu to directly purchase the melamine mahjong tiles
