Description

Parametric Weighted Pottery Wheel Top - Max Size (Bambu A1/P1/X1)

Remix of the Mini Pottery Wheel by @Lleonardd & @18lspahr

This is a specialized remix focusing on the wheel head (top plate), designed to maximize the utility of the original pottery wheel mechanism. It takes the original concept and scales it up to use the full build volume of standard Bambu Lab printers (A1, P1P, P1S, X1C).

🚀 Key Features

  • Maximized Surface Area: The top plate has been expanded to the maximum printable size for the A1/P1/X1 series, giving you significantly more working room for larger clay projects.
  • High-Inertia "Weighted" Design: One of the biggest challenges with 3D printed wheels is the lack of mass. This model features a designed internal void intended to be filled with weights (such as washers, bearings, sand, or plaster). Adding mass increases the rotational inertia, making the wheel spin longer, smoother, and with more torque feel.
    • YOU MUST ADD PRINT STOP PRINT PROFILE DOES NOT INCLUDE FOR SIMPLICITY/CONFUSION CONCERNS!!!
  • Fully Parametric: Need a specific size or want to adjust the weight cavity? The included parametric files allow you to tweak the dimensions to fit your specific needs or printer constraints.
  • High Quality Bearing: Uses 6202Z bearing to provide smooth spinning especially once wheel is weighted. I used the following https://amzn.to/3NY5InB

⚖️ Adding Weights

This model is designed with a hollow internal chamber. You can add weight to the wheel to improve momentum:

  • Method: Pause the print before the top layers close the void to insert solid weights (like heavy washers or nuts), or fill with a dense material like sand (ensure it is tightly packed to avoid imbalance).
  • Result: A heavier wheel carries momentum much better than a standard light plastic print, providing a more authentic pottery throwing experience.

🛠 Compatibility

This top is designed to fit the standard bearing assembly from the original "Mini Pottery Wheel" design.

(Note: Please refer to your slicer for specific wall/infill settings, as these will vary depending on how much weight you intend to add.)
