Description
Updates:
- Added tiny ledge where the bearings sit to make sure theres no resistance.
- Added another plate with the bearing holder that's a tad smaller in the case the original threads are too tight.
- Added a Key/Tool so you can tighten the bearing holder
I've always been fascinated with different fidget toys. I come from a yoyo background, so I wanted to design something that would spin using bearings. I've seen a couple metal versions of a similar fidget toy, but nothing that was 3d printed. I spent the past few weeks trying to perfect this and now I'm happy to share it. When you spin it, it will levitate while spinning, but when it slows the magnets will pull it back down.
Here's the breakdown of how it goes together. I was going to use 2.5mm inserts, with a screw but I decided I wanted to minimize what people had to buy so i designed my own little screw that fits perfectly.

I personally used 2 ceramic bearings. Only the best for my little friend!

12x magnets
Magnets : 4x2mm ( They have a ton of different qtys on amazon
( They get glued in )
Also note : depending on the type of filament, you might need to sand the shaft of the base piece lightly. 400+grit. The tolerance for the bearings are very tight. You want it to be able to move freely up and down, but not side to side.

Yes, it has a little compartment on the bottom, because why not. And a hole for a keyring or lanyard.

When it comes to printing the TOP part of the spinner. I SUGGEST you use petg as your support material. My 3mf will still print it fine, but you will have to spend a few minutes removing/cleaning up the support material. It just doesn't print SUPER clean, and using petg as the support allows it to. I've attached the settings to use for petg as a support. I know most know, but theres alot of people who haven't done it before. When I first started out, I'd of liked to see the settings because not everyone has bambu labs support filiment.
