This is Level 3 of a self-similar hexagonal bipyramid fractal,  created in CAD and designed for vase mode printing. Each iteration builds on the previous one, forming a repeating pattern using a hexagonal bipyramid as the base shape.

 



Optional: This is just half of the full self-similar shape (pyramid version). To complete the full form, print two and glue them together at the base. If you decide to do this, you may want to enable bottom layers for easier gluing. (Not pictured)

I've included a 3MF file that will produce the same size print as shown in the photos.

 


Here are the print settings for FDM printers -
 

Please note: this model should not be scaled down unless you’re using a nozzle smaller than 0.4mm, such as 0.2mm or 0.25mm. It can, however, be scaled up for larger prints.

Layer Height: 0.16mm
Vase Mode: Turn on Vase Mode and disable/uncheck “smooth spiral” if you see the option in your slicer.
Infill: 0% (This is activated by default in Vase mode)
Supports: None
Slice Gap Closing Radius: 0.01 (This step is mandatory. The model may not slice properly if you don't do this.)
Resolution: 0.005 (This step is also mandatory. The model may not slice properly if you don't do this.)
Skirt: Enable a skirt for the first layer.

Optional feature: You can set the bottom shell layers to 0 in your slicer to reduce print time and reveal an intricate pattern on the underside. (This feature is already enabled in the included 3MF.)
