Description

The Design

Continuing along the theme I'm exploring, This is the Impossible Pyramid Passthrough,

Now is the shape of a 4 sided pyramid, the “male” part of the thread seems to defy physics by passing through the slightly larger “female” Part

This looks amazing both in 2 pieces or together

Dimensions are approximately: 54mm x 54mm x 110mm

Let me know if you experience any issues.

If you enjoy this print consider giving it a boost (It'd really help me out!)

Printing

Standard settings should work fine to slice. It is set up to print sequentially (one part, then the next) in up to 2 colors

Once printed let the build plate cool before trying to remove.

My Work

After many years in Engineering, I've just decided to try and follow my childhood dream of becoming of a Creative Designer.

A Creative Designer of what? No idea! Right now I really like puzzles, mechanisms and kinetic sculptures so that's where I'm going to focus my efforts.

I am impressed by how smooth the pieces slide together and how the tolerances came out perfectly first try on all prints. The gray one was a test print while the second was made using glow in the dark PLA.

It got stuck. any ideas? It could be the silk PLA. Printed on A1.

Annoying, normally its a small artifact.blob near the base, or the filament calibration is slightly off

I'm not surprised this came out beautiful. RJ's designs are great. My only issue is that it was a little tight (giggity), but just working through the threads fixed that, and honestly could be a filament issue. 5/5 RJ

I wish it was! It’s AMOLEN S-Series on amazon. it’s not the highest quality silk PLA but they’re definitely a super unique filament option. the colorful one is the red/yellow/blue and the grey one is the white/black/pink. everyone i’ve showed these to absolutely loves these. i just gave another out this morning. please continue making different versions and i’ll absolutely keep making them.

I'm having a heck of a time getting the external part of this model (and others like the one with the ball) to print smoothly on the underside. I've tried with and without supports, but I always come out with the rough underside causing the parts to get stuck together or prohibiting them from sliding through one another. Thoughts on how I can adjust? Photo is on the plate...for some, both internal and external are rough. I can sand them, but was hoping not to have to. Would love suggestions on tweaking settings.

...that's Bambu PLA Basic in ivory white. I've had the same issue with silk. Printer is P1S.

Are you keeping the door open when printing? It looks a bit like the filament is over heating, it shouldn't need supports

I have the top cover open about 3 1/2 inches. Here is the other side with a different filament - silk tricolor (the purple). I had the same issue on my A1 Mini, and can add those photos when I'm home.

Both are petg. The dark blue is flashforge burnt titanium and the other Bambu translucent teal. Did a separate print in Bambu silk pink for the wife and daughter.

Hey, That sounds really frustrating. it's most likely to be the filament calibration. Have you tired different filaments ? My advice, if you want to keep trying would be to run flow rate calibration and go from there.
