Description

Summary

This is a topographical map of Greenland featuring the Danish flag (Dannebrog) embedded into the terrain.

I created this model as a symbolic statement in response to the recent news (January 2026) regarding US discussions about "acquiring" or occupying Greenland. The Danish flag here serves as a reminder of the unity between Denmark and Greenland and a rejection of the idea that the island is a commodity to be bought or seized for strategic military expansion.

Whether you are printing this for educational purposes, as a conversation starter, or as a political statement, this model highlights that sovereignty and history matter.

Model Details

  • Geometry: Accurate topographical data of the Greenlandic coastline and ice sheet.
  • Symbolism: The Danish flag is integrated into the top surface, designed for easy multicolor printing.

Print Settings

  • Material: PLA (White for the ice/base, Red for the flag).
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm recommended for detail.
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm (or 0.16mm for finer topography).
  • Infill: 15% Gyroid.
  • Supports: None required (print flat on the bed).

Multicolor Instructions (AMS/Manual)

This model is designed for a color swap to achieve the flag effect:

  1. Base: Start with White (representing the ice sheet).
  2. Flag Background: Swap to Red at the final layers.
  3. Cross: Swap back to White for the Danish cross (if printed as a separate layer height) or paint the cross manually if printed flat.

If you are using a Bambu Lab AMS, the 3MF file attached is pre-painted for a 2-color print.

Context

"Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland." — Mette Frederiksen (referencing the 2019 discussions, relevant again in 2026).
