Meet the Dune Book Nook with epic mechanical sandworms 🤯!

I’ve uploaded an animation with an assembly guide (under the description), and I’m adding written instructions here as well:

  1.  Print all the parts (mechanical parts in PET-G, nylon, ABS, etc.).
  2.  Glue the printed or metal 6003 bearings to the frame and to the black cover.
  3.  Glue the covers and gears to the rod.
  4.  Glue the sandworms to their corresponding gears (as shown in the animation).
  5.  Using a coin (quarter / 10 cents / 10 pence), screw the gears to the 3rd and 5th dunes.
  6.  Insert the rod into the frame.
  7.  Slide all of the dunes (walls) onto the frame.
  8. Glue the wheel to the rod.
  9.  Slide on the frame cover.
  10.  Place the entire assembly into the black cover.
  11. Add a light source to the hole in the back.
  12. Enjoy!

Regarding the bearings: I printed some, and they were suitable for this project. However, feel free to use standard 6003 bearings.

For the Mechanical parts, I suggest changing the wall loops to 3 or 4 and use 25 % gyroid infill.

I wish you would enjoy the model 🥳
