I’ve uploaded an animation with an assembly guide (under the description), and I’m adding written instructions here as well:
- Print all the parts (mechanical parts in PET-G, nylon, ABS, etc.).
- Glue the printed or metal 6003 bearings to the frame and to the black cover.
- Glue the covers and gears to the rod.
- Glue the sandworms to their corresponding gears (as shown in the animation).
- Using a coin (quarter / 10 cents / 10 pence), screw the gears to the 3rd and 5th dunes.
- Insert the rod into the frame.
- Slide all of the dunes (walls) onto the frame.
- Glue the wheel to the rod.
- Slide on the frame cover.
- Place the entire assembly into the black cover.
- Add a light source to the hole in the back.
- Enjoy!
Regarding the bearings: I printed some, and they were suitable for this project. However, feel free to use standard 6003 bearings.
For the Mechanical parts, I suggest changing the wall loops to 3 or 4 and use 25 % gyroid infill.
I wish you would enjoy the model 🥳
