Welcome to LOOP, a storage series completely different from TRAC. If you've used the TRAC series before, you'll definitely love LOOP!

Tested with Bambu PLA & PETG

If you want to know, here's the story:

During the same period as the TRAC series, I was also contemplating a storage solution that could completely enclose cables. I've looked into many similar solutions, most of which use a rotating shaft to secure the cable's midpoint, and by turning the shaft, the cables on both sides wrap around. In summary, they generally have the following pain points

  • When installing cables, the storage device needs to be disassembled, and the same applies when fully removing cables
  • To reduce volume, cables are severely twisted and compressed internally, with bending angles exceeding 90 degrees (I admit the TRAC series also has this issue)
  • To synchronize storage at both ends, the cable's midpoint needs to be fixed at the pivot during installation, and even then, the lengths of both ends might not be synchronized after winding
  • ...

Okay, starting from the list above, plus the experience I was forced to gain from the TRAC project

  • Universal size, no longer wanting to create a separate model for each cable size
  • Provide as few print profile options as possible. I know some people choose not to read the model description and directly use the first print profile, then come back to complain that the size is unsuitable... of course, they won't see these complaints either...
  • Needs an additional storage solution for the storage itself

In summary, plus losing some hair, and then LOOP was born

  • General description: Suitable for cables with a diameter under 4mm and length of 1m
  • Braided cables are recommended, as they have a more uniform diameter and less friction (Tested with a 3.4mm diameter, 2m long Macbook Pro charging cable, which can be fully stored in LOOP. This should be the limit for this version of LOOP to store a 2m cable. It's estimated that for a 2m non-braided cable to be fully stored, its diameter needs to be less than 3.2mm. Apologies, I don't have a suitable cable for actual testing)
  • Minimize twisting and compression; cables remain in a naturally curved state inside
  • Installing and removing cables does not require disassembling the model
  • Either end of the cable can be independently and quickly adjusted
  • The universal size is very friendly for creating storage for LOOP, and the LOOP BOX is already on its way

Take care of your cables!

One more thing:

In memory of the filaments sacrificed to this project!
