Description

This is a headrest adapter for the Herman Miller Mirra 2 chair to add the universal Lorell headrest to the back of the chair. This does not require the hardware included from the package of the headrest, instead, I used different hardware to keep it together. I suggest printing this in at least PETG-HF since it will be undergoing constant stress. You will have to insert M5 nuts during printing and M5 screws during assembly in order to create a very strong connection between the two clamp halves. Enjoy the headrest adapter and let me know if there are any issues!

Materials you will need:

  • Lorell Headrest from Amazon (https://a.co/d/i0R8wn0)
  • 4 x M5x20 screws
  • 4 x M5 nuts
  • A screwdriver with the correct bit to screw in said M5 screws

Steps to create and assemble:

  1. After downloading the model, ensure that there are pauses at layers 106, 193, 714, and 778. This is shown in the screenshot of the slicer below:
  2. At every pause, insert an M5 nut into the slot. Repeat this for the 4 pauses in the print.
  3. After printing both the top and bottom halves of the mount, prepare your Herman Miller Mirra 2 and Lorell headrest.
    1. Set aside the hardware that comes with the headrest.
    2. Ensure that the chair is stable and ready to accept the headrest.
  4. Taking the top and bottom clamps and having two M5x20 screws nearby, clamp the headrest and insert the screws from the bottom clamp so that it looks like below:
    1. POV of where to insert the screws into bottom clamp
  5. Line up the headrest with the screws on the top clamp and screw the headrest to the top clamp as shown below:
  6. Adjust the headrest as necessary and tighten the screws periodically as they may loosen. Since the chair back is very flexible, the headrest may tilt backwards when leaning back on it.
