G4Cast Weather Display

This model is exclusively available to backers of the G4Cast Weather Project crowdfunding campaign. It was created specifically for our supporters as a thank-you for backing the project and helping bring it to life. Your support made the development and completion of G4Cast possible, and this release is part of our commitment to delivering something special to our community.

G4Cast is a retro-inspired E-Ink weather display inspired by the iconic iMac G4. It combines bold early-2000s design with modern, energy-efficient hardware, using easily available components and open software. More than a weather display, it’s a tribute to classic tech design and a flexible platform for makers.

Update #2 (2026.Jan.22): 12h Time Format & Min/Max Daily Temperature

Update #1 (2026.Jan.15): Improved Icon Selection Logic, Bugfixes, P1P, P1S, and A1Mini Support

Updated the daily weather icon selection logic: instead of choosing the most common icon, the system now prioritizes rain and snow. Daytime icons are used exclusively, with night icons shown only when no daytime icons are available for that day.
Fixed an issue where the clock could not automatically detect the correct time zone and displayed an incorrect time.
Resolved a bug that caused incorrect time labels under the graph in certain time zones.
Based on feedback, the display now refreshes once every 30 minutes instead of every 10 minutes. The clock continues to update every minute as expected.
P1P and P1S print profiles have been added.
An A1 Mini print profile has also been added, featuring a slightly modified model with slimmer vertical bezels to reduce the overall size.

If you encounter any of these issues, simply reflash the SD card with the updated image file and they should be resolved. (The download link is the same as before.)
