Laundry Basket Holder Wall Spacer

Hills Laundry Basket Holders are supplied with mounting brackets intended for either a Hills Hoist post (round bracket) or wall mounting (flat-back bracket). When the holder is installed on a collapsible clothesline post using the standard wall-mount bracket, interference occurs between the holder and the collapsed clothesline.

To address this issue, a custom spacer block was designed, modelled, and 3D printed to provide adequate clearance from the collapsed line.

The spacer was printed in black ASA and incorporates the following fastening and mounting arrangement:

• Four (4) M8 Nutserts installed into the clothesline post.
  The spacer includes recessed pockets on its base to accommodate the Nutsert Flanges, ensuring the spacer and bracket sit flush against the post.
• Four (4) M8 × 60 mm Socket Cap Head Bolts with Washers secure the spacer directly to the post.
• Two (2) M8 Threaded Rods (or alternatively, 230 mm long M8 Bolts), together with Washers and Nylon Lock Nuts, pass through the post, spacer, and the standard wall-mount bracket. This creates a clamped sandwich assembly, providing additional rigidity and load distribution.

The spacer also incorporates an integrated locating register to assist with alignment during installation and to help manage shear loads.

Spacer Dimensions

The spacer has a total thickness of 90 mm, which provides the necessary clearance between the laundry basket holder and the collapsed clothesline while maintaining a secure and structurally sound mounting solution.

• 2pc - 8mm All Thread Roughly 230mm long Zinc Grade 8 (or 230mm long bolt if you can source them easily)
• 4pc - 8mm Nylon Nut Zinc Grade 8 
• 8pc - 8mm Flat Washer Zinc
• 4pc - 8mm Spring Washer Zinc
