The Lunar Arcane Scepter - Gothic Fantasy Staff
Wield the power of the night with this intricate Lunar Arcane Scepter. This 3D printed prop is perfect for dark fantasy cosplay, a unique desk ornament for a dungeon master, or an eye-catching display piece.
Description
This model is a tall, ornate scepter featuring a twisting, organic shaft that resembles gnarled roots or dark vines rising from a stable base. Near the top, claw-like structures cradle a central orb, culminating in a sharp, elegant crescent moon finial.
The example in the photo is printed in standard black PLA, which gives it a sleek, shadowy appearance straight off the build plate. It would also look incredible printed in a silk filament for a metallic finish, or painted to resemble aged wood and tarnished silver.
Print Settings Recommendations
Due to the height and slender nature of this print, stability is key.
- Material: PLA
- Layer Height: 0.12mm - 0.16mm (Recommended for capturing the fine details of the twisted shaft and orb cradle).
- Infill: 15% - 20% (Gyroid or Cubic recommended for internal strength).
- Walls/Perimeters: 3 walls for added sturdiness.
- Supports: Required. The crescent moon, the underside of the orb cradle, and some overhangs on the twisted shaft will need support. Tree/organic supports are highly recommended as they are easier to remove from complex, organic shapes and leave fewer marks.
- Build Plate Adhesion: Brim is essential. Because this is a tall object with a relatively small footprint, use a wide brim (at least 8-10mm) to ensure it stays securely attached to the bed throughout the print.
Post-Processing
Carefully remove tree supports, paying close attention to the delicate tips of the crescent moon. Light sanding may be needed where supports made contact. The model looks great as-is in black, but takes primer and paint well for customization.
Thank you for your time and business. I hope you have a great day! Keep on printing!
