Description
Introducing my very first model, the highly requested shoji-inspired window cover that helps partially block sunlight and give privacy. Its design is inspired by shoji screens that are often used as room dividers, walls, or doors in Japanese architecture. The result is a design that is not only functional but also gives your home a bit of a Japandi feel. To see this in action, please check out my videos here and here!
Note: Since windows aren't standard, you will need to do some measuring and some trial and error to get the right amount of tolerance and pieces to fit your specific windows. I've tried to make my piece modular such that you have some pieces to start off with. I would recommend using the Middle Panels and tweaking the Widened Edge Connectors so that you don't have to reprint whole panels from scratch!
What's Included
A wide variety of panel sizes that you can mix and match to fit your window size (e.g. Left Panel, Right Panel, Middle Panel, Single Panel, Double Panel)
- Two types of connectors to help piece the panels together.
- Connectors will help join two panels together. These are designed to be a pretty tight fit; you can either slide the panels in or push them into the open edge.
- Widened Edge Connectors can be used if your window is in between panel sizes. Either widen or shrink this piece to fit your window. I would place this on both the right and left sides of your window.
What's Not Included
If you want to reinforce the fit and make sure that the panels don't fall down, I would recommend using a small amount of this mounting putty on the edges and the connector pieces (The link will take you to my Amazon storefront were I've linked some of the other 3D printing accessories which I use and receive a little bit of affiliate commission on).
Example Configurations
- For a narrow window that is 16 inches across:
- 2x Left Panels
- 2x Right Panels
2x Connectors
- For a wide window that is 32 inches and 3/8 across:
- 8x Middle Panels
- 6x Connectors
- 4x Widened Edge Connectors
