Description
NASA's SLS Space Launch System Rocket highly detailed model at a 1:144 scale.
- 68.1 cm (26.81") tall
- 634.2 g of filament
- ~36 hours of printing
- AMS NOT Required
- Glue required
Note: All decals seen are not part of the model and were applied after printing
There are two print profiles available:
- The Standard Profile places each large component on a single plate to reduces chance of any stringing
- The Condensed Profile places all components of the same filament on a single plate
Components are listed below and can all be detached from each other
- Core stage
- Powered by 4 x RS-25 engines
- 2 x solid rocket boosters (SRBs)
- Launch vehicle stage adapter (LVSA)
- Interim cryogenic propulsion stage (ICPS)
Powered by 1 RL-10 engine
** Carefully break supports off into small pieces before removing, ensuring not to damage the truss section
- Orion stage adapter (OSA)
- Spacecraft adapter
- European service module (ESM)
- Powered by 1 AJ-10 engine and 8 x R-4D engines
Spacecraft adapter jettison panel
** while this is supposed to be three identical fairing pieces, the model uses a single fairing as it makes it much easier to assemble
- Orion capsule
- Launch abort system (LAS)
Filaments Used:
- PLA Orange
- PLA White
- PLA Grey
- PLA Blue
- PLA Matte Latte Brown
Assembly:
- Simply glue the connectors in to corresponding components, if the fit is too tight I recommend scaling the connectors down by a small amount in your slicer.
- Glue RS-25 engines to core stage engine section, glue RL-10 engine to ICPS, glue AJ-10 engine to ESM, press fit R-4D engines into ESM.
- White cube, white squares, and downcomer ports can be press fit or glued into the core stage
From bottom to top the order of stacking is:
Core Stage, LVSA, ICPS, OSA, Spacecraft adapter, Spacecraft adapter jettison panels, ESM, Orion capsule, LAS
- SRBs can be inserted into core stage with connector pins
- Solar panel arrays can be inserted into the ESM when not atop the SLS rocket
