Description

2 lefts and 2 rights, 2 are long than the others. size them to your ear… It's not easy (sorry about that). But they are very little filament, so keep trying!!!

✨ Design Concept & Features

Tired of flimsy or unrealistic elf ears? These 3D-printed designs offer a variety of sizes and a sturdy yet comfortable fit for all your fantasy and holiday needs. Whether you're dressing up as a woodland elf, a high fantasy warrior, or giving your "Elf on the Shelf" a realistic human look, these models are for you!

  • Four Unique Sizes: The design includes two short and two long-style ears to fit a range of ages and character looks (refer to the dimensions in the image for exact sizing).
  • Contoured for Comfort: Designed to cup the human ear, offering a secure and comfortable fit over your actual ear, as shown in the fitting photo.
  • Optimized for FDM: The models are designed with a slight outward curve and robust construction to ensure clean, successful FDM 3D printing.
  • Versatile Use: Ideal for cosplay, LARPing, costume parties, and a hilarious way to give your Elf on the Shelf a "human ear" transformation.

🛠️ Printing Settings & Recommendations

These settings are a great starting point for printing the ears successfully.

SettingRecommendationNotes

MaterialFlexible/Soft Filament (e.g., TPU or Flexible PLA)Highly recommended for comfort and easy fitting!
AlternativelyPLA or PETGIf using rigid filament, a lighter material is better.
Layer Height0.12mm - 0.16mmA finer layer height will produce smoother curves.
Infill5 - 15%Low infill is fine; the print should be light.
SupportsAbsolutely Necessary!Print with the opening facing up. Use tree supports contacting the build plate only, or paint on supports for the inner cup area.
Brim/RaftNone/SkirtNot typically needed if the first layer is calibrated.

📐 Dimensions and Sizing

The set includes two pairs of ears, a shorter pair and a longer pair.

StyleTotal Length (Longest Point)Width (Widest Point)
Short Ear 1 (Top Left)3.74" (approx. 95mm)2.8" (approx. 71mm)
Short Ear 2 (Top Right)3.54" (approx. 90mm)2.0" (approx. 51mm)
Long Ear 1 (Bottom Left)5.6" (approx. 142mm)4.4" (approx. 112mm)
Long Ear 2 (Bottom Right)3.54" (approx. 90mm)N/A

Pro-Tip: If the ears are too big for a child, scale the model down uniformly in your slicer (e.g., scale to 80% or 90%) before printing.

🎨 Post-Processing & Finishing

  1. Remove Supports: Carefully remove all supports. Sanding may be needed on the inner surfaces.
  2. Coloring:
    • Skin Tone: Use a PLA/TPU close to your desired skin color.
    • Painting: Prime the ears and use acrylic paints to match skin tones, adding shadows and highlights for a realistic effect. You can also use makeup (foundation/blush) on the finished piece for an exact match to the wearer.
  3. Wearing: The ears should hook over the top of your own ear. For extra security, use a small amount of non-toxic spirit gum or a prosthetic adhesive, especially for a rigid filament.
