Description

My brother-in-law’s key head snapped off, and instead of ordering a new key for an absurd price, I designed a replacement head that we can reprint anytime.

This replacement works perfectly with KABA (now dormakaba) Penta, Gemini, Quattro, and Expert system keys (non-chip versions).

After several test prints, I arrived at the correct dimensions: the head fits the key precisely, and the locking point holds the key firmly in place.

During assembly, I pressed the key into the printed head at a 45° angle on a carpeted surface until I felt it snap securely into position.

Recommended materials: PLA+, PETG, ABS, or ASA.

I hope this design is useful for others as well. 🙂

Hello, just print it in solid color and the logo will disappear :) But I will also make a profile without a logo ;)) https://makerworld.com/en/models/2096110-dorma-kaba-key-cap#profileId-2408075

Unfortunately, it has to fit so tightly (you can use a lubricant for easier assembly), otherwise the key head may come loose later. Furthermore, the dimensional accuracy is calibrated for Bambu/Sunlu filament. If you have printed with a different material, I would recommend printing a calibration cube first to check how much the material shrinks after printing. In such cases, the model unfortunately has to be minimally enlarged (in increments of 0.2%) so that it fits perfectly afterwards

May I ask what the issue was that led you to give only 4 stars? It would be helpful to know the reason so I can improve the model.
