Xanders Boombox

The boombox was shown in detail in this video, please make sure to watch the video beforehand:

Notes:

The speaker can only be printed on large printers such as the Bambulab H2 series. If you want to print the speaker on a small printer like the P1S or A1, you will have to split the parts yourself in the slicer and glue them afterwards. It can be difficult, but it should be possible.

Print Settings:

  • 3-4 walls
  • 25-50% infill, depending on how portable the box should be
  • Gyroid > Grid, Grid only if you need it fast, otherwise Gyroid Infill
  • Fuzzy Skin: Mark only on the visible outer wall; 0.5mm dot spacing 0.3mm thickness
  • Support structure: Mark only at the tweeter recess and on the control panel (tree)

Assembly:

The assembly is explained in detail in the video, a short summary is available for download in the PDF. All necessary parts can also be found in the PDF. Other files such as DSP Profile and Fusion360 Project can be downloaded here :

Sound:

The box is tuned very linearly and plays from 43-20,000Hz (-6dB). For frequencies below that, psychoacoustic frequencies are generated via DSP to make the box sound deeper and bigger. Due to the mono configuration, the box sounds relatively narrow and does not have a large soundstage, yet it sounds very powerful with intensive bass up to a volume of almost 100dB.
