Description

This is a life-size detonator just like you see in movies and games that moves just like the real thing, it even has a satisfying click sound when you press the button.  This model is based on the M57 Electrical Firing Device that is used by militaries all around the world to set off Claymore Mines, C4, and other explosives.

( ! ) Do not sell my prints — I have not authorized selling prints.  If you sell my prints on Etsy, Amazon, eBay, etc, I will find out.

The model is super easy to put together, no glue is required, assembly takes less than a minute.  Just snap on the handle, insert the clicker button, insert the antenna, and pop on the silver safety.

This model pairs well with my previously released Block of C4 model.

Bambu Filaments used were:

  • Matte Dark Green
  • Metal Iron GrayBlack
  • Silk Silver

This 3D print is intended for decorative purposes only and is not suitable for children. Small parts may present a choking hazard and edges may be sharp. By printing this 3D print, you assume all liability for any harm to yourself or others resulting from its use.

when I pressed it, I heard distant thunder, but it’s probably fine I didn’t like those neighbors anyway

printed just fine, tho it does not click, it seems to be too short for it to click from the lever. i can click it with my finger pushing on it. might need a bigger bump on the lever to trigger the noise. still a nice looking prop

Thanks for letting me know, I'll do another test print now and if there's an issue I can spot then I'll post an update.

Update: thanks again for letting me know. An hour or so ago I uploaded the fix, so anyone who downloads or prints it now should get the proper handle, and there's also an extra plate with just the handle for anyone that only needs to print the updated handle. It's pretty easy to snap off the old handle and snap on the new one. Sorry for the inconvenience 🙂

mine printed great! but the clicker is a one off. and the antenna doesn’t fit in it holder. also it’s only cosmetic. but you could have the antenna roundness start earlier, it looks weird being square then going round.

you need to take a knife and carve the sides of the antenna

A very beautiful model. However, the click mechanism didn’t work properly, as other users have reported. I easily fixed this by enlarging the bump on the handle. The improved version is now available as a print profile.

Ohh yeah I saw your new Handle. You just lowered the part where the safety thing touches, right? I actually tried that but it didnt work either.

Thanks for the feedback -- Yeah, the previous handle was for a different version that needed a bigger safety bar on the handle, so I updated back to the right one. That's odd, I'll test print it again and see if I can see the issue. My test print this morning was clicking away.

I love the model, it all clicks together nicely but I’ve had an issue with printing the button. The button seems to be stuck to the walls, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to detach it from the walls, or ideas on which print settings I could mess with to try and print it again?

Are you using the profile provided to print or are you printing it with your own settings? And what printer are you using? Print in place springs like that require fairly tight tolerances so in some ways is a diagnostic of printer calibration. Depending on what printer you you are using it might mean it needs to be calibrated or perhaps that a belt is a little bit loose.

Hiya, thanks for the response! I’m using an elegoo Neptune 3 pro, I have just finished reprinting the button with a different filament and it seems to be fine now, not entirely sure what the issue was, maybe just old filament. Thank you again, the model is really cool!

Ahh ok, yeah if a PLA filament is left above 40% humidity it starts to take on water which can make the filament more brittle and less accurate. My understanding is that the nozzle superheats the water causing it to burst at a very small level which makes it print a little bit inaccurately or randomly at a small scale, and then because there's those air pockets it can be more brittle once it cools.

Good design and print. However, not sure why it cracked when I inserted the antenna piece.

I uploaded a new version of the antenna yesterday, so Sunday, that was slightly smaller so that it puts less stress on the frame. To be fair, in my testing the antenna was inserted all right and didn't crack it, but it was pretty tight. So the new antenna may solve that problem, and if not I would recommend resizing the antenna down another 0.1mm in the Windows or Mac slicer and that will help a lot if you happen to have this issue.

Love this! it’s like a fidget but even better! I’d love to see a landline that would click and make a noise with pressure! or a a dead man switch! i’m going to give you two boost! Mine does click!
