Yeasu FTM-500/510 Control Head Cover in TPU90A
Print Profile(1)

Description
Overview
This is an intentionally plain-looking cover for the Yaesu FTM-500/510 control head that fits snugly and stays securely in place.
While it protects the screen and buttons when the radio is not in use, its primary purpose is stealth: it hides the radio in plain sight from potential thieves looking through your vehicle windows. Printed in black TPU, it blends perfectly into a dark interior and disappears from view.
Print Settings & Material
- Material: Printed in black TPU 90A. It is firm enough to hold its shape perfectly, yet soft enough that it won't cause any wear or scratches to the radio.
- Build Plate: I printed this on a smooth PEI plate to achieve a dull, matte finish on the front face.
- Adhesion/Release: I used a standard glue stick on the plate as a release agent. When it comes time to remove the print, applying 90% IPA (isopropyl alcohol—not the beer variety, unfortunately! 🍺) helps immensely during the release process.
Microphone Jack Options
This file includes two different model options depending on your setup:
- Standard Model: Partially covers the mic jack on the control head (ideal if you plug your microphone directly into the radio's main body like I do).
- Mic-Accessible Model: Located on the second print bed, this version is modified to fully accommodate the control head microphone jack.
Constructive comments are always welcome, and I hope this print gives you some peace of mind on the road. If you like the print, please leave a comment or thumbs up. Enjoy!
