Description

This is a remix of a Bambu-style filament colour chip, modified to make it much more useful in the workshop.

I’ve added:

  • 10 mm magnet cut-out – a circular pocket for a 10 mm disc magnet so the swatch can snap onto metal surfaces or magnet plates.

Typical Uses

  • Build a magnetic filament colour wall on a metal board or strip.
  • Attach a swatch to each dry box / storage bin so you can see which filament lives where.
  • Keep a material library near your printers for quick colour matching when planning prints.

The photos show a few ways I’m using them:

  • On a pegboard / plate with lots of swatches laid out by material type and colour.
  • On filament storage boxes with hygrometers where each box has a matching swatch & label.
  • As loose chips with magnets for quick reference when picking colours for projects.

They’re small and fast – great as a “spare space” print when a plate has gaps.

Magnets

  • Size: 10 mm diameter disc magnet
  • Thickness: ~2 mm (standard neodymium disc)
  • Press-fit or glued into the cut-out. I recommend a tiny dab of CA glue or epoxy if the fit is loose.

Assembly

  1. Print the swatch.
  2. Press or glue the 10 mm magnet into the circular recess (decide which polarity you want if you’re building a big wall).
  3. Stick your filament label into the recessed label area.
  4. Snap it onto your chosen metal surface, shelf edge, or magnetic plate.
